It’s now June

Looking back on blogs this year, I really have struggled with maintaining any sort of blog.

The concept was to write about photography but sadly health issues have overshadowed everything.

Last year I wrote about being diagnosed with cancer and how chemotherapy robs you of the power of concentration. It’s hard to plan and execute the simplest shoots at times.

This year was much the same, however in May was my daughter’s wedding and apart from being the proud dad I wanted to take photos.

We traveled 300 miles south on the Tuesday, to be ready for Wednesday wedding. The wedding went well, did my speech and photos. At times it was a strain as I had a lot of stomach cramps. Thursday was the day south with our son however by 4 pm I really wasn’t well. Friday we abandoned the rest of our trip, cancelled seeing friends and Fiona drove us home. Back home in Scotland we could seek advice from the oncology team, Sunday I was in A&E and surgery for the removal of my blocked bowel, it had perforated! And a stoma fitted.

I have been in hospital 5 weeks now and had a second operation to deal with deep infection. I am now just about through it all, walking with a stick for short distances and dressing the stoma myself.

Looking forward I read for some weeks I cannot lift more than 2 lbs, my canon R6 is more than that!”!

I use an iPhone, would I be better upgrading from my 13 to say a 16max?

And finally are there any other ‘stoma’ photographers out there who can give advice to me on my new adventure?

Thanks Glyn
