Back home

I was discharged from hospital a week ago. After 4 weeks in hospital it was strange and scary to be home. The surroundings, once so familiar, were unusual, and old routines were gone.

That took two days to get over and now five days on it’s so comfortable being home.

Now, day by day I feel my health is improving. The wounds from the surgery are slowly healing, possibly another week to go there. My stoma is doing ok, just the closeness to the wound is a minor issue.

It was my birthday on the 25th but apart from seeing some of the kids it was a non event. So that’s to revisit once I am better. It’s our wedding anniversary next week also, again celebrating that will be put back.

Finally, I just want to say this whole 5 weeks has been bearable because of the encouragement and help of my wife, Fiona. I feel so fortunate to have her in my life.
